Young Lives vs Cancer is a UK-based charity that provides comprehensive support to children and young people (aged 0-25) and their families affected by cancer. They offer a range of services designed to help families cope with the emotional, practical, and financial challenges that cancer brings.

Here are some key ways they help:

  • Financial support: They provide grants to help families with the extra costs that come with cancer, such as travel to and from the hospital, accommodation, and heating.
  • Day-to-day support: They have social workers who provide emotional and practical support to young people and their families. They can help with things like finding accommodation, applying for benefits, and dealing with the emotional impact of cancer.
  • Free place to stay: They have a number of homes across the UK where families can stay for free while their child is having treatment. This can help to reduce the financial burden of travel and accommodation, and it can also provide a sense of community for families going through a similar experience.
  • Support for siblings: They offer support to siblings of children with cancer, who can often be overlooked.
  • Bereavement support: They offer support to families who have lost a child to cancer.

In addition to these services, Young Lives vs Cancer also campaigns for policy changes to improve the lives of young people with cancer. They rely on donations to continue their work.

Young Lives Vs Cancer

Why i'm running for them

Young Lives vs Cancer, the operating name for “CLIC Sargent”, is a charity closed to my heart. Young Lives vs Cancer is the 12th largest cancer charity in the UK with a focus on children, young people and their families. Its care teams provide specialist support across the UK.

Young Lives vs Cancer supports people from diagnosis onwards and aims to help the whole family deal with the impact of cancer and its treatment, life after treatment and, in some cases, bereavement.

My best friend Danny sadly passed away in 2009 aged just 21 years old from a brain tumor.

In the years since his passing, me, my family and my extended Danny’s Angels family have always supported CLIC Sargent (now Young Lives Vs. Cancer) in Danny’s memory.
CLIC Sargent were there throughout Danny’s treatment and after to support his family through such a terrible time.

Running is one of my hobbies and getting the chance to run the iconic London Marathon on behalf of this is amazing charity is something that makes me feel immensely proud.
